Promoting a tobacco free society


The Office of Tobacco Control is the national statutory body for tobacco control in Ireland. The Office’s main tasks are to advise and assist the Minister for Health and Children on tobacco control measures and to monitor and co-ordinate the implementation of such measures. The Office is responsible for the national inspection programme and the co-ordination nationally of the activities of health authorities in relation to tobacco control as set out under the Public Health (Tobacco) Act, 2002.

The Office has a range of other functions in relation to the control and regulation of the manufacture, sale and marketing of tobacco products. It supports and publishes research and provides advice to the Minister on measures to reduce the incidence of smoking or its effects.

The Office is located in Millennium Park, Naas, Co Kildare.
